Some leaders build companies; a rare few shape entire industries. Inder Sharma was one of them. Alongside Atam Marwah and Bharat Singh, he laid the first seeds of SITA World Travel in India, beginning with just three employees.
As the driving force behind the venture, Inder Sharma transformed the way India experienced the world. From 1950 to 2000, he led SITA to become India’s largest travel company, earning global recognition before its acquisition by Kuoni Reisen.
Building on this remarkable legacy of entrepreneurship and vision, he founded The Select Group in 2002, alongside his son Arjun Sharma, daughter Neeraj Ghei, and a group of industry stalwarts. Envisioned as more than a business, the Group set out to build enduring institutions across travel, hospitality, retail, and lifestyle, guided by values of integrity, excellence, and long-term value creation.
Today, Inder Sharma's legacy continues under the leadership of Arjun Sharma, Chairman of the Group. With a progressive outlook and deep respect for its founding values, he continues to expand The Select Group while shaping its future with purpose and vision.
