Mrs. Jyotsna Sharma

Mrs. Jyotsana Sharma  while being a home maker, she also works relentlessly for the protection of animals and their welfare and has been actively involved and responsible for welfare activities like feeding, nurturing and providing healthcare services to more than 1000 stray and abandoned dogs and cats in Delhi, Mumbai and Goa.
  • Under her leadership, Amaraah Foundation was launched in February 2018 with a view to synergize the multiple charitable outreach of the Trustees, under a single common platform. While the intention has been to reach out to the needy, both humans and animals, as well as contribute to efforts in environment preservation, and an inclusive holistic care and conservation of all living beings, the prime focus of the Foundation is ‘animal outreach’ especially the canines.
  • Instrumental in getting a prominent public area allotted for a puppy adoption stall to be run by the NGO – ‘People For Animals’ in India’s most admired Shopping Centre-Select CITYWALK, Saket, Delhi. Over 500 abandoned puppies have found a loving home since 2008 due to this initiative.
  • Instrumental in running the ABC program (Animal birth control) of identifying the areas with dense population of strays, getting them sterilized, post-operative care and rehabilitating them back into their respective living areas.
  • Regular personal supervision of running the street animal care activities in the areas around Sunder Nagar,
  • Nizamuddin, Greater Kailash I & II, Greater Kailash Enclave, Bhairon Marg, Saomi Nagar, Shivalik, Panchsheel Park, Gitanjali Enclave, Saket, Hauz Rani, Hauz Khas, Chhatarpur, DLF Farms….
  • Manages & runs a purely self-funded Dog-Kitchen every day getting special nutritive meals cooked out of rice, chicken, pedigree-dog food supplements, using an average 450kgs of Pedigree supplement each month. Milk & eggs are also distributed at all the locations for the stray dogs & puppies.
  • Sick dogs are gently coaxed and taken for further medical attention at Frendicoes.
  • Once in a month an animal-ambulance van is hired to go around scouting for the strays that would need to be sterilized. Specially trained dog-handlers volunteer to do this service.
  • Her staff consists of 10 people who take care of both the daily feeding and medical care of the abandoned or stray animals. These people tour the areas on motorbikes and personally feed and care for the stray and abandoned dogs.
  • Such is her personal commitment and compassion for these animals that she funds the entire feed and care program of her stray canines including the salaries of her assistants from her own personal resources, unwilling to take any monetary assistance from any NGOs.
  • In effect she lives her passion, besides being a doting mother and a socially interactive wife to a leading young entrepreneur.
